What happens during CPH Fashion Week stays in CPH Fashion Week – And on KK’s Blog (Part 1)
Hey beautiful people!
Ready for a little gossip and catch up on what’s up and down in Scandi-Candy land?
I arrived from London Tuesday afternoon still super jetlagged so I stayed in with the family and caught up over dinner. The heat was palpable. Not only was the Danish weather steamy and way hotter than usual, the city of Copenhagen was sizzling and buzzing with sexiness and excitement prior to Fashion Week SS2014.
Wednesday morning 5:30 am: After 5 hours of sleep I hit the gym, worked, had meetings and when the time came around I met up with my fashion peeps to hit the first events and shows. After a cool event at ‘Børsen’ where a collection of the best Danish fashion designers showed their visions for SS2014 we ventured into the Summer night with a light buzz of bubbly in our blood stream. When Taittinger Champagne is present I make it my business to RSVP and stay until the fat lady sings. Apparently I was not the only one. Because as the whole team of fashionistas strolled down to the canal where the canal tours of copenhagen were prepared to sail us out into the evening, cases of our new BFF ‘Taittinger’ came our way. Yes, that was plural. ‘Cases’ of Taittinger.
For some reason the first boat filled up fast and our little and at this point very merry crew was put in our own boat. And so was all the champagne. Oops! Happy holidays people! Sailing has never been this fun! I love Los Angeles, I love NYC, but honest to God I friggin’ love Copenhagen when the sun never fully disappears on the bright and mild nights and you are among good old viking friends with nothing, but love and smiles for the moment.
After en hour of cruising the canals and finishing a certain amount of the golden drops in real champagne glasses (no plastic cups here!) we docked at a hidden and gorgeous warehouse location totally new to me. The conceptual fashion designer Henrik Vibskov was showing his ideas for next years prête-á-porter, which is always an experience extraordinaire. My friends are so cool so we had front row seats with the best view to the affairs. And a show it was! Vibskov never fails to impress. the models looked like androgyne viking aliens. Men wore heels, and blonde, soft, feather looking bundles of hair were spread over black ‘X’es’ on a white background. Like a futuristic lab with gorgeous beings working on sounds and looks for the next generations to come. Very inspiring.
Après the show we strolled back into the city and Summer night still champagne glasses in hand happy, tired and excited for the next day….
Here are some photos of the first day of Fashion Week from my POV. Please make sure to come back tmro when I ‘kiss and tell’ about our luncheon at the famous restaurant NOMA and show backstage material from the new US TV Show we shot on Thursday covering CPH Fashion week. See you tmro! XOXO KK
