Viking Lady Boss Interview (Part II)

Happy Friday lovely blog followers! I’m back, and this time with the next ‘Viking Lady-Boss’ interview…

Signe Mørkebjerg Sjøstrøm has become a dear friend and a huge inspiration to me fast. We met at a campaign shoot in LA a little over a year ago and ever since we have clicked as friends and colleagues. I feel very, very safe working with Signe, which is why I take risks when we shoot. I’ve done stuff with SIgne I would never in a million years do with other photographers or film makers.

Signe is a rather new photographer, but she is a shooting star and her talent speaks for itself. Moreover, I believe that she is good, not only because of her great eye for composition, ideas, technique etc. But she has a kind heart, she is very good with people and she gives a lot of herself in everything she does. She leaves ‘her blood on the stage’ and it shows. I’m a huge fan!

”For me, a lady-boss, is an independent, strong woman. A woman with a large ‘W’. She knows how to carry herself like lady, she knows her worth, her mind, her personality. She knows how to be both vulnerable and super hard on the same time. She can work independently and has made her own career. She does exactly what she feels for without restrictions or limits.” – Signe Mørkebjerg Sjøstrøm

Who are you? ”My name is Signe Mørkeberg Sjøstrøm.”

Where are you from? ”I was born and raised in Denmark, in a small town north of the capital Copenhagen.”

What is your occupation? ”I am fashion photographer. I live and breathe for my career, industry and work field and have a deep passion for the fashionable photographic art world. For me is like when we were children and created a fantasy worlds.  It’s an adventurous world that got us so distracted from time and place.”

Where do you live? ”I am currently living in Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark’.’

What is your biggest passion? ”My deepest passion is the photographic art universe with a dominant fashion approachs of dreamy femininity, soft sensuality with psychological and philosophical aspects.”

What are you scared of? ”I am insanely afraid of spiders and unpredictable creatures.”

What is your ultimate beauty tip? ”Keep your body in shape, do some exercise and watch your mind. We only live once, so our bodies must have the best basis. This deals with both beauty and serenity.”

What is your favorite trait about yourself? ”It must be my lips and eyes. Eyes are the mirror of the soul. However, I put more emphasis on personality. To be strong, femin and confident. We can go far in life as women with the awareness of the way to carry ourselves.

What is your favorite body part? ”On myself or my models? Myself, it would be my legs, and as previously mentioned, the eyes and lips. However, there is something extra feminine around the hands and wrists. In regards to my models it’s the same thing I focus on. A woman’s body can with small movements go from showing so much strength and to much weakness. Being a photographer, body movement is a very important focus.”

What do you love most about being a woman? ”I love that we women can accommodate strengths and weaknesses of the soul. That we can rise up and always smile despite if the world around us collapses. That we have so much strength that we can go into a man’s world and still prove that there are no limits on what we are be able to. I love being a woman. I love both my female strengths and weaknesses. But let’s be honest, a woman’s most powerful weapon is the man’s imagination.”

What do you love most about being Danish? ”My favorite thing about being Danish is my humility. I think you reach much further in life without always thinking you’re the best. But you’re always fighting harder every day to get there. My love for my family is also an extremely important factor for me in being Danish.”

What is your favorite fashion item? ”Black black black – my jacket from the Danish designer Utzon’s one of the things I over the years have used the most. It is timeless, which is a typical repeating signature for Danish style.”

Where do you want to be in 5 years from now? ”There is no doubt: I will not stay in Denmark, although I love my country. Career-wise Denmark puts a number of restrictions on me. So in 5 years, I live still live out my deep passion for the creative world of photography, but it will be somewhere else in the world where opportunities are not limited to the same extent.”

What is the best advice you ever got? ”It’s from my mother. “We can not change other people, but we can change our perception of them. We ourselves are our own happiness blacksmith.”

What is the best advice you can pass on to other women? ”Let the heart and brain work together and follow your gut feeling. Never settle for less in life.”
