Viking Lady Boss Interview (Part IV)

I remember the first time I met Lillie Gitte like was it yesterday. On one of my trips to Copenhagen back in 2009 I recall asking around about who does the best Brazilian wax in town. A choir of girls gave me the same answer:  ”Lillie Gitte at Dollface”. The same day I called the beauty salon and got Lillie on the phone. We made an appointment and as she took down my full name, she hesitated a moment and then said: ”Excuse me, but are you the Kristina Korsholm? The one who wrote the book about New York?” Stunned, and surprised that people actually read my stuff, I mumbled: ”Yes”.

And so the story goes. The next day I was butt naked on my back with my legs spread wide open as Lillie went to work. Since that day all guards have been down (literally speaking). Lillie and I have bonded and become really good friends. I admire Lillie for her strength and power to follow through with huge projects when things look dark and impossible. I absolutely adore that she has no fear and she takes the leap into space without knowing whether the net will appear or not under her. This girl says ‘f#ck it’ to everybody’s expectations on her behalf and does things her way. Meanwhile, she is the most grounded and loving person. How can you not admire a combo like that…?

Who are you? ”Lillie Gitte.”

Where are you from? ”I Grew up in the Northern part of Denmark, in a small town called Skagen. I’m the daughter of a fisherman, and a very strong woman who gave birth to four girls. I spent my childhood on horseback, surrounded by the wild nature of the North.”

What is your occupation? ”Owner of the beauty house DollFace, and author of SKANDINAVISK SKØNHED & LILLIES LYKKE.”

Where do you live? ”In Copenhagen, and in Paris whenever I can find the time.”

What is your biggest passion? ”Love, friendship and beauty. The very essence of life.”

What are you scared of? ”Except from spiders…? Nothing. I do not waste my life on fear.”

What is your ultimate beauty tip? ”Sleep, healthy food and a lot of fun. Do your skin routines every morning, every evening, every day. And start early!”

What is your favorite trait about yourself? ”My intuition, my crazy female mind, and my ability to give love.”

What is your favorite body part? ”My butt!”

What do you love most about being a woman? ”Everything. If I was able to choose, I wouldn’t doubt for a second that I would be a 100% woman!”

What do you love most about being Danish? ”Our connection to the nature and that we are so lucky to have 4 seasons. Fall is my favorite season.”

What is your favorite fashion item? ”My YSL stilettos. 5 years old, and they still rock!”

Where do you want to be in 5 years from now? ”Wherever my path of life takes me.”

What is the best advice you ever got? ”My mother is my role model. She gave me great advice through my life. Many years ago she wrote this on my birthday card: “My darling, when you were born you came out and you had swallowed all the amniotic fluids. And you have swallowed the world ever since. Don’t stop doing that. Just keep swallowing all you can in this life.”..”

What is the best advice you can pass on to other women?  ”Don’t listen to the evil gossip from smaller people!  If you put yourself out there, they will gossip. But the ones who matter in your life, will know otherwise. So fuck the smaller people and do your thing!”
