Viking Lady Boss Interview (Part III)
The third Viking Lady-Boss is up. A business woman with super model looks, a closet only a few can afford and the biggest heart you can imagine. Her name is Tine Hertz and I count her among my very best friends even though we have only known each other a little over 3 years.
We met on my birthday, March 19th 2010, in our favorite city NYC and found out how much we have in common. That year became a total ‘rock star’ year for us. We traveled the World together and went ‘Ray Charles’ on all the BS and bad attitude people gave us. We’d both just broken out of long relationships and found inspiration and support in each others’ view points, strengths, weaknesses and experiences. One can say that we ‘fell in love’ and I am still smitten with this amazing blonde, who is the best at everything she does, yet she still allows vulnerability and space for contemplation in and around her life.
Please enjoy and get inspired by Viking Lady-Boss number 3, Miss Tine Hertz
Who are you? ”Woman, mom, lover, wife, friend, sister, boss.”
Where are you from? ”Copenhagen – I’m a real city child, but I spent most of my childhood and youth on a horseback up north of Copenhagen, so nature is also a big part of me. I always felt I got the best of two worlds.”
What is your occupation? ”I own an Advertising and Media Agency – OMI (omi.dk)”
Where do you live? ”Copenhagen.”
What is your biggest passion? ‘‘Life, love, friends, family, traveling, work, my son!”
What are you scared of? ”Falling out of love. Living in an relationship bound together only by kids, social life and practicalities – instead of passion and love”
What is your ultimate beauty tip? ”After giving birth to my 1 year old son, I’ve learned what sleep can do for your well-being and looks!”
What is your favorite trait about yourself? ”Being able to make things happen. That I am taking responsibility for my life and my happiness and not expecting someone else to do it for me”
What do you love most about being a woman? ”Sensuality and being able to dress up.” 🙂
What do you love most about being Danish? ”That my son will grow up in such a privileged part of the world.”
What is your favorite fashion item? ”Difficult to pick one, but shoes is definitely one of my main passions. Shoes, and delicate, gold jewelry from ‘I’m Jewel’ by Ivona Bruun. Her jewelry is a must at the moment.”
Where do you want to be in 5 years from now? ”Where I am, but with more time to invest in some of the many fantastic projects and ideas I meet and pick up along the way. That, and more time with my son.”
What is the best advice you ever got? ”My business partner and I started working together when I was 22. He was the CEO of the company I worked in then. I remember finding out that a new account manager in the company got 3 times my salary because he was headhunted for the job. He was a man and much older than I. But he had the same job as me (though a better title than me), but exact same sales budget as myself.
I approached my boss in his office and demanded an immediate raise to the same level or I would quit instantly. I think that I mentioned to him that I’d been discriminated as a blond woman more then once in his company. I got what I wanted, delivered the results and became partner at the age of 23. 🙂
One thing he said though, which I have often told my employees over the years since then; ‘Remember that if you sell yourself at a high price the expectations will be equally high’. Many people forget that with a high salary comes high expectations, and you have to deliver the results each and every month.”
What is the best advice you can pass on to other women? ”Only one person can make things happen. You! Believe in what you can and pursue your dreams! So many women spend most of their life not believing in themselves and focusing on whatever shortcomings they believe they have. That’s one thing. But among others, I also believe we can learn from the opposite sex ….”
