”To be, or not to be”
“To be, or not to be. Whether ’tis nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, or to take arms against a sea of troubles, and by opposing end them?” – Hamlet (Shakespeare)
The last few days I have been contemplating Shakespeare’s Hamlet and his famous speech. Obviously not so much the whole ‘my uncle killed my father situation’, but more the actual thought of ‘Being’. Being here, being in our time, being in the now. Taking every moment in like it’s the last. Trying to make the right decision at the right time and finding the ‘Truth’. What is your truth? And how do you integrate it with your society, culture and merge it with other people’s truth? And what happens if you really decide to ‘Be’…?
It is a tall order if you ask me. And often, it involves many compromises and you will suffer huge consequences. And in the process searching for, or perhaps at times, fighting for your truth, you suddenly find yourself back where you started. Alone and scared on your quest like an ingénue. Except, you are not. Every minute and second you are a bit closer to death. You are bit wiser, older and nearer to where ever it is you are going.
So my thought on this Tuesday morning is: Let every moment count!
The pictures below evolved at a Danish/French reunion with my friend actor/model/photographer Eric Monjoin. He just got a new lens for his Canon 5D so as we were catching up we shot a few images. More to come soon.
