The Killing of a Danish Swan

A while back, I worked together with the talented artist and film director Juan Hein, grandson of the great Piet Hein. We created the movie ‘The Killing of a Danish Swan’ together. On board was also amazing actor Janus Bakrawi.

Part of my ‘home work’ was to watch the work of Gaspar Noé. An Argentine film director. You probably know ‘Irreversible’ with Monica Bellucci and Vincent Cassel and perhaps you are familiar with the more recent ‘Enter the Void’. Both movies are on the truly dark side and they deal with perverse and obscure sides of the human race. Moreover, Noé uses a certain cinematography that is both mesmerizing and sometimes make you wanna puke.

It was quite a challenge for me to play this character and to do the actions I do in the movie. It helped that I trust both Juan and Janus and out of this movie came many interesting discussions. For instance: Can a woman rape a man…?
