”Sweat is just fat crying” – Energii
As most of you know LA and especially West LA is ‘health freak central’ on many levels. Types here vary from moderate ‘I eat sort of healthy and exercise once in a while’ to ‘I only eat vegan, hike every morning and practice Pilates’. And then there are the self medicated cases that take drugs like it was vitamin C and live in the gym. I won’t even go there to mention them, because in my book, the latter case does not resemble anything close to a healthy lifestyle.
I guess the old saying ‘practice everything in moderation except moderation’ is key. But. There is always a but. At least for me. This past fall I wanted to get in shape for a bunch of photo shoots lined up plus a TV series I booked. I know getting ‘the perfect body’ is a myth unless you are born with perfect genes or become one of those extreme cases mentioned above. My goal was more on the humble side. Simply to get a bit more toned, lean and muscular. And how to do that? Aside from watching your diet a bit more you need to find the perfect exercise routine for you. And both is not easy.
If you follow my blog you know that I tested the Power Reformer back in August @ Energii in Copenhagen. I fell in love with it instantly because I saw results so fast and liked the atmosphere a lot. Meaning: The teachers are fun and we go out and have drinks together on the weekends and my butt never looked better. 500 squats might be hard on a monday morning, but it feels good not to worry about the extra drinks on a friday night. #fact
So because I was in Denmark shooting in October I was happy to rejoin Energii. This time with ambition and tenacity like never before because of my shoots. Sometimes I took 2 hours straight up of hardcore workout, which is a lot for me. But I wanted results fast. And results I got. My beautiful girl friends and the stylists on my shoots started commenting on my abs and my toned arms. And this was only after 3 weeks of training @ Energii. Yes, I know I did not stick to the ‘practice everything in moderation’ thing. Quite the contrary. But I was still surprised how fast I went from ‘softy’ to lean. I got what I wanted and without getting injured and I had fun while working out, which I usually never do. (you will rarely find me in a gym).
And that’s the thing. I realized, everyone is different and here is a workout that is perfect for me. So I have been contemplating how I can convince the 2 ladies who founded Energii, Sanni Wulf Vangsø and Giite Mia Salling, to bring the concept to LA.
This is an idea that is to be continued since I will be in Copenhagen soon again, ready to workout and to plot the future…
Pics below are of Sanni, Gitte and some of the other teachers from Energii.
Enjoy! And remember that Sweat is just fat crying…. 🙂
