My Life in a Suitcase

Lately my life has evolved around my beat-up suit cases. Either I’m packing them, unpacking them, getting stuff from the cleaners to pack them with, getting them (and myself) on a flight, calling car service or being on either email, skype facebook or on my cellphone with friends and family to catch up. My suitcases always in the room somewhere sort of lurking up at me seeming to think; ‘Oh Gosh! Where is she taking us next!?’

Last week I came back from the amazing and long road trip with the American part of my family. Then the beautiful city of San Francisco was calling my name. In between travels I had a couple of shoots. One which was the night before I was off to the Bay area. For this specific shoot the photographer wanted me to bring a large selection of clothes and accessories. I came home late that night after the shoot and crashed without unpacking (Sorry Chloé shirts that look like shit when they do not hang on hangers… Oooops!).

Next morning I had to run errands so when it came to packing for SFO I pretty much just took the ‘fashion bag’ from last night and jumped into a cab. Traffic was crazy – Car-Armageddon like never before. It was actually so bad that I didn’t make my flight and had to pay (and cry… yes there were tears) to get on the next flight, which was completely overbooked. I felt like a complete shitshow standing there at the United counter sweating balls in my tie-die summer dress with my mascara running. Welcome to KK’s life: A disaster on wheels just waiting to happen. Where did I think I was going looking like this? Bali? Sheeesh! All the too cool for school and well dressed San Francisco peeps in black Tom Ford sent me knowing eyes. ‘Eat, Pray, Love’ – shitshow here trying to pull it together without much success. However, I got myself on the flight and made it to San Francisco, which holds a special place in my heart. The city is breathtakingly beautiful and I never cease to love getting lost in the different neighborhoods, having drinks on the roof tops and visiting the marina.

And that is also why I tell my self not to complain. Tears and tie-die dresses or not. I feel very lucky and blessed with all these amazing adventures I get to go on. It’s just that sometimes I wish that my mind wasn’t so …. well… determined to do what it wants to do without giving me a chance to chip in. You know that feeling? When there is something inside you that drives you to do whatever it is that you do. I cannot always account for why I do what I do. All I can say is that my gut is guiding me. And to act against it would be the true disaster. At least that is what I think. But we can discuss it over a glass in 50 years and see if I was right or not.

As for now I cannot do anything but pray for a beautiful day to come my way tomorrow and hope that I one day will find the truth…

Until then; Here are some images French photographer  Eric Monjoin shot of me last week. Eric is probably best known for his role in the Heinecken commercial called The Entrance, but aside from being an actor he is also a super talented photographer.
