From Super Moon in San Francisco and back to the City of Angels

In SFO airport and just learned my flight to LA is 2 hours delayed. Can’t believe I rushed out here, when I could have perused the streets of beautiful San Francisco, done some vintage shopping in Mission, had more coffee and biscottis @ Blue Bottle and perhaps a glass of wine at the cute Absinthe restaurant in Hayes Valley and explored new hoods in company of good old, friends from throwback days.

As much as I have grown to absolutely love living in LA, I still miss city life. I adore seeing people walking and bicycling in the streets. I love being able to walk across town if I feel like it and randomly bump into friends in the streets, exploring stores and finding new adventures without having to map my day out and swear by my GPS and WAZE compass.

Work aside, I had time to speak to a few of my old girl friends while here. This always warms, frees and enlightens my heart and soul. Moreover, Sun Solstice sort of is a big holiday for us vikings from Scandinavia. Perhaps because we don’t have a lot of sunlight in our neck of the woods, the celebration of the longest day in the year becomes very important. Moreover, we had a ‘Super Moon’ yesterday. The last time I recall seeing this scenario was on my birthday on March 19th in 2011. It is a powerful scenario.

Anyways, overlooking the amazing bay/laguna area, in a bikini slash topless because almost no one is around except me (yay!) , feeling the warm sun relaxing and caressing me, I had a moment of complete stillness. I swam out to the lonely island in the laguna and had some alone time feeling nothing, but pure ‘nowness’ and acceptance. Nature sure can be an aphrodisiac…

But also, speaking to old friends, reading a book and once again slowly nodding to the realization of the importance of leaving the past in the past and perhaps understanding a little bit more, that we are not always a product of our history if we embrace it – the history, the pain, the ego. When we give in, let go, move on and embrace life ‘as is’ and not always as interpreted by a foolish mind scorn by past memories. There is only ‘now’. Fear is the challenge here.

Anyways, I did manage an hour or 2 in the city en route to the airport and I snapped a few pictures.  Hope you enjoyed your weekend as much as I did… xoxo KK

Pissed about the 2 hour delay so I hit the best spot in the Virgin America terminal and order tapas and wine. PS – Don’t you just love traveling Virgin? They blast Justin Timberlake when you check in. The check-in area looks like a happening club/lounge and all staff personify hot aspiring actors (they probably are on the side). #loveit
