Food for Divinity
I get asked a lot about the hot spot of Los Angeles. Where should we go for drinks, dinner, mani-pedis, clubbing, galleries, shopping and barhopping. ”My friend is gay and I’m straight”. We both like something sexy, outrageous and fun, but it has to be for both of us. We like ambience, but quality is a must”.
I love helping out, but I’m wondering when I became the new blonde version of ‘Lovely Planet’…? 😉
Either way, here is a tip for you peeps who want it all: Excellent food and ambience:
Last week I had friends in town from New Delhi. Tikka Singh and his beautiful mother. Such a pleasure. Their friend, super deluxe chef Bruce Marder, invited us to his restaurant CAPO in Santa Monica and I feel pretty safe to say that I had the best white truffle ravioli and BBQ’ed salmon I have ever had in my entire life. Period. This was not only food for thought. It was food for divinity.
I shared most of the dishes with Tikka’s mother since the plates were ‘manly’ to say the least. Even though the food is Italian, the wine we had is from a local estate here in Bel Air facing the Getty Museum, every little detail in the restaurant is handpicked by Bruce. From the French silver wear to the Picasso on the wall to the chubby little gnome in the window.
The crowd dining here is a mix of professionals, high class gourmands and celebs yet without losing the soul and the super chilled vibe of a place you want to come back to again and again whenever you get the pangs for a prime steak or superb seafood.
Bon Appetit!
