Dolph Lundgren and other Scandinavian Stuff

Friday I got all dolled up again to got to the annual Eliason Merit Award 2012. Even though it is an American – Swedish award I was invited. Being a Dane born in Hamlet’s hometown Elsinore in Denmark, I guess my time at University of Stockholm studying journalism sort of helped here and got me the invite for this red carpet and sit down dinner event. Lucky me!

Action hero/actor & native Swede Dolph Lundgren got the award this year and I was surprised to realize how well educated this 6’5” blond fellow is. While in NYC back in the days, hanging with his girl friend at that time, awesome style icon and singer Grace Jones and friend Andy Warhol, Dolph was pursuing his studies at MIT. But Miss Jones got him a gig on the latest James Bond movie and the rest is pretty much history. ‘I must break you’ is a great and legendary line in one of Dolph’s most famous movies with Sly ‘Rocky IV. But don’t let the primitive language fool you. There is more than meets the eye.

Super hot singer Lykke Li was spinning that night and made people hit the dance floor hard. I almost didn’t recognize the ‘ELLE’s Best Dressed Woman’ with her new brunette hair do. Lykke Li sat right behind me at dinner with a table full of Swedish cool music people, that I am not cool enough to know the names of.

The rest of the weekend I am staying under the radar not feeling to grand. Think I caught a stomach bug or something. Not fun! Only getting close to liquids, netflix and books until I feel better.

Since I haven’t got any official photos of the Friday event yet, I will just post a few from my cell phone until I get better ones.

Dolph Lundgren giving his thank you speech at the ceremony. Danish celebrity host and actress Mette Lisby and radio host and writer Jesper Bearenthz were at my table. Mette was the MC of the night and it was really cool to catch up with both of them as I have not seen them since they stayed at my old house in The Hills years back when they were first contemplating moving here from London. And of course a picture of gorgeous Anna Kolber who is on the board of the commitee of the whole scenario.

Today I’m in a much more chilled state of mind and trying to get well before a new work week commences. Chamomille tea, scented candles, lillies and my newest purchase: A book I snatched with a ‘sly’ bid at the silent auction on Friday at the red carpet event. ”They Dared to Dream” by Swede Karen Bysted.
