Car Blog?

Ok, it’s official! This blog has begun to sound more and more like a car blog.

Frankly, I’ve had it with the car talk. Especially when the car keeps braking down on me and is costing me one pair of Pierre Hardy heels after the other. So I promise, from tomorrow there will be no more car-talk. We will move on to way more important subjects.

However, this day has been one crazy day because of my car.

A little after 2 pm heavy smoke filled the cabin of the Bronco and I got pretty scared. I pull into Needles, California and it turns out I have an intense leak of oil and transmission fluid into the exhaust, which is both dangerous, it smells and it causes heavy smoke… The silver lining is that it costs 516 bucks to repair it. It sounds insanely expensive, but what can I do? I’m alone, in the desert with a car that is bailing on me.
2 hours later I pull out ready to go home to LA. Finally. But alas! After 75 miles the Bronco burns down again. I kid you not. I’m now stuck in the middle of the Mojave Desert it is getting dark and I have little cell reception. Man! This is not my lucky day! I manage to get hold of Triple A, but since I have not seen a sign for miles and miles I can’t give them direction to find me.

I don’t know if you have tried to be alone in a desert with no light (the power was out too), no company and no idea about where you are. Let me just say, it gives you time to think about your life. I spent 2 hours in the dark in The Mojave Desert alone with my thoughts and all the stars in the black sky.

The driver Ray from Triple A finally spotted me and he towed me back to Needles to the repair shop. Ray is 43 with 5 kids and a house right on the Colorado River. He is probably the sweetest being I have met on my trip so far. We had a really good heart talk about relationships and values in life during the 75 miles back to Needles.

Now I’m put up in a little motel. Tomorrow 8 a.m. I’m going back to the repair shop to see what they can do for me…

This road trip has turned out to be quite a journey..

A truck full of pigs. And in 2 layers!!! It looks horrid! For a minute I was contemplating going vegetarian. Poor little piggies… 🙁
