Beauty Call

Hi people, hope you are having a lovely start to the Weekend! I am very happy to share a piece of beauty news with you from the capital of beauty research, plastic surgery and vanity: Beverly Hills.

Yesterday when the weather was gloomy and all you wanted to do was light up your fireplace and stay indoor I snug out and went for an hour treatment at Vanessa Hernandez Skin Care on Brighton Way, which is literally smack in the middle of Beauty Babylon.

In my time as an actress, a fashion model, a writer of beauty columns and books I have had my share of facials in order to look fresh for the camera or to write reviews for interested readers. In NYC I prefer to see Christine Chin. She does the job. No doubt. Here in Los Angeles I swear to Vanessa Hernandez. Period. Why? Here is a sneak peek of what happened yesterday:

Vanessa shares offices with the top eye and face doctor and surgeon in Beverly Hills and everything is super clean and perfect. Like you would like your skin to be. Do not expect the ‘ooohhmmmm’ ‘namasté’ meditative ambience with scented candles and essential oils here. These people get straight to the point.

In my robe lying in my chair Vanessa’s assistant Corrine comes in and cleans my face. We laugh and find out we know each others exes. Jesus, such a small world! Mid gossip, Vanessa joins us and gives me a treatment from A-Z. Dry microdermabrasion, wet microdermabrasion with dermal infusion that works to remove dark spots on your face, oxygen therapy that feels sooo good and almost like a facelift, a mask of vitamins, then a strong peeling mask, which will have me peeling on Sunday and we finish off with LED light treatments. Vanessa works on your face, but also on your chest, hands and elbows. The areas of the skin that will tell your age. All in all it was a collagen boosting session and I left her building feeling like a peachy cheeked baby. After Sunday when I ‘shed’ the ‘old’ skin it will look even better. Bonus is, Vanessa gives touch-ups. So in aprox. 1,5 week I come in for a 20 minutes quicky.
