LAB ART

Today was a random day. I did not go to The Maxim Hot 100 Party yesterday because I had to get up early to work today. Also, I had an important audition. However, stuff happened and suddenly I was on the phone with NYC about a play that I might get involved in. See you can plan all you want, but they – them being the plans – always change.

John Lennon’s ‘Life is what happens to you when you are busy making other plans’ is so old it is almost ‘yaawn’ material, but never has a saying been truer.

Lunch was at The Ivy, where I haven’t been since my birthday in 2008 and I think I know why. It is the epitome of Euro Trash slash Tourist central. But hands down: I had a really good time there today. It was the official Pinot Grigio meeting day and since the food and service is impeccable there we were happy as clams. At one point when I leaned back into the comfy, flowery cushions and glanced up into the blue sky it almost almost felt like we were in Club 55 in St. Tropez.

And then tonight I went to the opening of LAB ART on La Brea and 2nd here in Hollywood. Iskander Lemseffer, the owner, curator and innovator is cementing his love of visual pleasure and expression in 3 huge rooms that make an interesting and impressive space with plenty of possibilities.

Some of the pieces were very cool in my opinion,. Some I felt I had seen before. Many times. But who am I to judge.

The crowd was very ‘happening’ and at one point I almost felt like I was in NYC. But that was until LMFAO walked in the door and I spotted a 60 year old woman in 4 inch heels with double D’s and a facelift bumping and grinding in front of the DJ both. Then I remembered ‘Oh! Wait, yes we are in Hollywood’.

I left early. not because of LMFAO or the double D’s. But because I have work in the am (again making plans!!). But this party was one of the better ones I have been to in a long time and I’m very curious to see what Iskander’s plans are for the gallery in the future.
