Just Another Day in Hollywood

Yesterday I had a real ‘Hollywood- actressy-kinda’ day. Since I work with Europe late at night because of the 9 hours time difference I usually sleep in a bit to catch up on some rest. So waking up late, shuffling my lazy body out onto the balcony and stumbling over Emma our English Bulldog who likes to tan in the doorway, I stretch and take in the view of L.A. and smile to myself. Damn I’m so lucky to experience this! To live my life with all it’s ups an downs. It’s never a walk in the park, but who wants to be in a park everyday when you can have the view over LA Downtown to your left and the Pacific Ocean to your right…? Even though it’s a bit foggy the scenario is to die for and its beauty takes me by surprise every time I stand out here.

Numerous coffees, phone calls and emails later I throw on my Dior denim skirt with all the zippers, a washed out black tank top, vintage heels and my beloved Balenciaga motorcycle bag. Get in the Bronco, which by the way cost almost 300 bucks to fix (!!) and it’s going to need more work in the near future, which is going to cost 600 bucks (!!!!!!!!!). I head down to my fave meeting spot ‘Little Next Door’. A cute, French café on 3rd street right next to one of my fave restaurants ‘Next Door’. If you’re ever in town you gotta visit both. They are LA essentials. I’m meeting with the Director who’s Swedish and whom I’ve met before in Copenhagen years back.

Meeting goes great. Basically he is interested in having me on board on his next project which shoots here in LA and in Mexico. All good and I leave the meeting rushing to he gym before it gets too packed. Living in LA a visit to the gym 3-4 times a week is mandatory for me. I cannot stay in shape without it since LA isn’t a city where you walk or get exercised in other ways. I don’t have a metabolism like a racehorse and I like to eat and drink whatever and whenever I please. So I hit the gym as often as I get a chance. And if you are into celebrity spotting the Equinox gym in WeHo is the place to break a sweat; Mr. Big, Jeremy Piven, Fabio, Diane Kryger, Gerald Buttler, Jessica Simpson, Mickey Rourke are avid users of this hot spot. Trés Hollywood!

After the gym I race down to Trader Joe’s – an all organic super market which is also a Hollywood classic – and then back up the hill just in time for my interview. Sin City Sessions is a radio show that airs in Las Vegas and maybe LA…I’m not quite sure, but they want to talk to me about my upcoming movies and fashion. I’m actually really nervous about this, because the friggin’ interview is live on air!!! It’s soooo different to be yourself and to speak about your work and point of view than it is to play a character in a movie or in a play. I’d much rather do the latter two. I get so ‘heady’ when I talk about ‘my work’ and ‘what I do’. The acting is way more fun and I can use my imagination and play.

At 9 pm (PST) I go on air (LIVE) and luckily the host Marq is a sweetheart. Maybe he senses my nerves all the way to Sin City.

The interview goes ok with out too many fuck ups on me. Or I don’t know….. I really really loath hearing myself trying to be all smart about subjects like ‘the worst and the best dressed this year’ or ‘my favorite word or favorite smell’ or talking about my high school days…..bummer! hahaha :-). After 45 minutes of radio rambling with Korsholm my boyfriend and I went to the movies and watched Tarantino’s new flick with Brad Pitt. If my interview was nerve wrecking, this movie had me almost leave the theater in the first act. It’s so violent and bloody like…well, Tarantino. But it developed into something much better and I gotta say it’s a pretty awesome and very beautiful movie. The Director of Photography is a genius! Go see it when you have a chance.

Getting into bed around 3 am makes an end to a normal day in my Hollywood life, which sure is different to my European life or even my NYC life style…
