Road Trip

It’s Friday morning 7:15 am and the booked bus is pulling up in front of El Tercer Ojo in Managua. 15 friends from all over the world, a priest, his children, a Grand Danoise dog, a pregnant woman, a DJ equipped with speakers, his latest mix, 10 cases of beer, wine and rum are all about to hit the road direction Rio San Juan, Nicaragua. A remote spot deep down in the jungle near the Costa Rican boarder where the fishing is excellent and you can scout birds species never seen before.

It is also one of those rare places where you can find cayman alligators and hold and pet them, which yours truly did. Yes, indeed I held a baby cayman by his neck and had a chance to cuddle him a bit before we released him back into the river. The density of his muscles are fierce. You have no idea how strong these caymans are until you hold them and feel their power. Wow!

Moreover, horseback riding through the jungle was on the agenda. And that, so fast the mud sprays around my black mares’ hooves like were we on fire.

Around 5 am every morning the monkeys wake you up with their Tarzanic screams and grunts and if you communicate back to them they might reward you by throwing feces at you. Home grown feces that is…

I just arrived back in Managua after a weekend of nature overload from the most pristine and lush rain forest I have ever experienced. It was the perfect vitamin B injection, but now I’m ready for a shower and perhaps a mani pedi…

nite nite from semi civilization… KK
