Pinot Grigio, The Chateau and Ryan Gosling
”I am nothing special; just a common man with common thoughts, and I’ve led a common life. There are no monuments dedicated to me and my name will soon be forgotten. But in one respect I have succeeded as gloriously as anyone who’s ever lived: I’ve loved another with all my heart and soul; and to me, this has always been enough.” – Noah (The Notebook 2004).

I know it’s just a movie and I know these are just words. But to act this out is a huge achievement. Think about it! how many men (or women for that matter) can truly say that they dared to do this? Loved with all their heart and soul like there is no tomorrow? Not many. Most people are scared to get hurt. They take precautions, make prenuptial agreements and get extremely practical about their love. Like it is a deal that needs a handshake, a signature and tons of rules written down on paper.
My true heroes are those who really dare to follow their heart.
Today I had lunch with my sweet girl ‘T’ at The Chateau Marmont. We have a ‘Pinot Grigio Club’ where topics of the utmost importance (at least to us) are discussed and evaluated over the best food and Pinot Grigio on ice. Today, as we sat down at our table in the garden at The Chateau I realized that it was Noah AKA. the actor Ryan Gosling, the man who uttered the words above, who sat at the table next to us. I’m not high on the whole movie star thing. But The Notebook just does something to me…every time. So it was hard for me to focus on my shrimps. Big sigh….
I don’t know….. I just thought I’d share this little moment with you and tell you that if you have not watched The Notebook yet do it right now. And if you have. Watch it again! It’s the best recent love story I’ve seen in years.
