My NYE Look

A closet full of clothes and nothing to wear… the inevitable puzzle every girl tries to solve when faced with yards of designer fabric, glitter and shoes each December 31th. For me the puzzle became a nerve wrecking problem around 5 pm when I realized that I only had 1 hour to pick out something from my suitcase, throw it on and transport myself to my boyfriend’s pad to watch our Danish Queen deliver her yearly speech.

It is such a nostalgic tradition to watch our Queen speak to ‘her people’. On that one day a year at exactly 6 pm when Her Royal Highness appears on screen I can’t help, but feel a tad royalistic. Does that word exist? Anyways, you know what I mean. Especially when living in God’s Own Country – the land of milk and honey – it feels kind of traditional, safe and old school in a good and sophisticated way to origin from a Monarchy.

But hey who gives. let’s talk about fashion: My choices were between an Alexander Wang dress, a surfer dress from American Apparel or a Tennis dress in off-white sequins that my sister bought in India for me. All colorful and funky choices. So I’m not quite sure how I ended up in all black with a snow-washed denim jacket instead of a blazer. But I guess when working under pressure it’s best to trash all the planning and just go with your first intuition. And the dress from Forever 21, the corsage from La Perla with feathers around the chest, the high thighs from Wolford and denim jacket with tons of zippers from Object were the first things I put on 5:20 pm. no time for anything except accessories: bracelets from Nialaya, Diamond earrings and my black bootlets.
