Jungle Fever

Back in the jungle after almost a year. It has been a while, but this place sure still works it’s magic when it comes to getting in the zone of contemplation, grounding, reflecting and getting more than 4 hours sleep a night. I have only been here a day and I feel more sleepy and relaxed than had I OD’ed on a bottle of Xanax.

The past couple of weeks have been a mayhem of getting back into the LA vibe, getting back into auditioning and finishing 2012’s first film. I read through a lot of different material, which takes a lot of time, and then once you find something that turns you on it’s prep time. Then you audition, and then, if they like you for the part you get a call back and then waaay down the line you might get nothing or you might get the part. If you are so lucky you get the part then the real work commences. The work that I LOVE! Digging into the meat of the story and the character and finding your path in the story you have become a part of.

There is a lot of work from A-Z. And now that I am reading Malcom Gladwell’s ‘Outliers’ it emphasizes the fact how important it is to rehearse, better and perfect your skills if you want to be successful, no matter what field you are in. He talks about the ‘10,000 hour-rule’, which means you practically need to work/rehearse 10,000 hours on your skills to become a ‘Steve Jobs’ or a ‘Mozart’ in your field. Talent is not enough. It makes sense, Which is also why it makes sense, that you gotta do what you love. Other wise it is hard to put down that many hours of valuable energy. Ok, enough of the Acting 101 from me.

I was lucky to audition for a couple of big projects lately. And upon my return to LA next week I have another big audition for a feature film. More stuff lies ahead. I am also discussing signing with a new agency so we will see what happens.

Now the maid is on her way so I better clear out. New adventures are there to be explored and I feel lucky to be there first hand to report on them 😉
