July 1st
Sunday July 1st marks a special day for me. Today is exactly 4 years ago since I said my final goodbyes to the little Williamsburg Apartment in NYC that was my home through out all the years I attended the William Esper Acting Studio. Prior to my new adventure I donated 12 bags of my clothes to Beacon’s Closet (something I have cursed myself for doing many times after) and I gave away pretty much everything I owned except my books, my laptop, my accessories and the clothes and shoes I could not separate from. I clicked my stilettos 3 times and boarded a Blue Jet flight to Los Angeles.
I recall the feeling like was it yesterday when I stepped out into Burbank airport with a smile and tons of expectations. Even though I had officially arrived in ‘The Valley’ it was still LA to me back then and waaaay different than my East Coast love NYC. I couldn’t help, but smile stepping into the bag claim area and checking out my fellow Los Angelinos. No sense of fashion, but a hell of a lot of smiles and positivity compared to JFK Airport. All the ‘Fuck Yous!’ were replaced with ‘Excuse me’ and ‘Have a good one’. Another thing; I felt that I had come to a place where everything is possible. I know I felt that too when I first moved to NYC, but it is different here in LA.
Now, 4 years older and non the wiser I still feel that LA is a city of amazing possibilities and lately it has been agreeing with me on many levels.
One thing I gotta say. And you can take that to the bank: My move to LA has taught me that sitting at home planning how you want your life to unfold is a royal waste of time. The so called plan I had about how my life was going to pan out before moving here went down the drain quicker than you can say ‘Hollywood’ and today I regret nothing. Well perhaps only that I didn’t begin the adventure earlier, which is why I cannot state it clearly enough: If you are feeling it, then go on the adventure. You know what you have, but you have no idea how much more you will have while you are enjoying the bumpy ride …

July dusk. Hanging out with friends…

Looking North East over LA…
