I Want To Be Blue

I don’t care what people say. The story might suck, the dialog might suck, and yes there might be annoying stereo types and what not. But I’m still loving AVATAR and I’m buying into the whole thing.
The Pandora universe is beyond fantastic. I can’t comprehend when people say that it’s not a movie of their taste. How can you not like beauty? How can you not wish to just check out of your own life and for a good 3 hours let yourself float into another world of fantastic adventure and beauty.
It’s the puuurrrfect escapism. I understand why people want to leave this dried up economy, unhealthy bodies and polluted, self destructive system for a world where you live in harmony with nature. You must be mad not to.
It’s definitely a movie with a ‘message’ of our time touching upon all the environmental and spiritual issues. Like a lot of movies do recently. I even heard the big studios have special budgets for movies with a ‘message’.
On another note; I just spent December in Copenhagen where the COP15 2009 conference took place. That was some kind of a circus. Good that so many world leaders showed up. But so sad that there was no agreement. How can you not agree that we need to take care of our own planet? What is wrong with this picture people!!!? I’m hoping the World leaders that were present, who flew in to Copenhagen in their PJs with their entourage will watch Avatar and look beyond their own little economy. ‘Cause in the long run, who cares about pride and money when our planet is dying and we only have ourselves to blame.
Another thing that cracks me up is I can’t believe I would ever hear myself say that I wish that I was blue, had a tail and rode dragons. The last time I saw blue people on the screen was the Smurfs. And I never really felt like being a smurf.
I guess the new black is blue after all…
My man and I in the theater with the funky 3D glasses 🙂
