2011 – Bring It!

New Years Eve has never been my cup of tea. Everybody is always setting their expectations higher than the moon. Like they think something magical Pandora-on Earth-Avatar-beautiful-blue-people-ish is going to happen to them and then they get upset when it doesn’t happen. Why??? It’s just another night. Duh!

Yes, it’s true that it’s a new year. And yes it’s true that it is a good idea to reflect upon what happened in the last year and where you would like to end up in the new year. But I do not understand why some people cannot do this on a more regular basis so they don’t have to go nuts on December 31st every year and order Hummer limos, donkies with weird hats, dancers and monkeys to call it a night… You with me…??? Would it not be much better if we got our shit together on a regular basis and figured out what we want to do so we could just have some fun?

Usually I like to be in a bikini on a remote beach not thinking about looks, behavior or heels. But this New Year turned out fabulously: My girls took care of my like they were paid to do so.

I came directly from my family’s Summer houses up North and I was more than a mess to look at to put it mildly. But this is where I had my luck in 2010: One of my girls took me to her beauty salon the ultimate ‘Dollface’ and made sure I got the best looking Minx Nails anno 2010/2011. The other one happened to be one of the best hair dressers in Copenhagen and she tamed my hair like never before ha ha! How lucky can you be..???!!! And sorry, but I have to brag: The sushi, the grapes and bubbles were purrrrrrfect on this night!

Here are a couple of 2011 hair tips from Katrina the hair stylist:

The messy locky look that I’m sporting tonight: Use a petite curling iron and roll the front hair up and let it cool off before you run your fingers through them for volume. Lots of hair spray is a must here! Tease the hair close to the roots if you like a 60’ies Brigitte Bardot look (And who doesn’t…? ;-)…)

The bun also called the ‘Chignon’ is a must in the new year. The word “chignon” comes from the French phrase “chignon du cou,” which means nape of the neck. However, it gets a bit more exciting if you braid your hair before you roll it into the classic bun. Try it! And remember to pin it instead of using a scrunchy. It is way way too common according to Katrina. And Puh-leeeze: Set the bun as high as you can and maybe a tad to the left or right for good measure so you don’t wind up looking like a 3rd grade school teacher 😉

Music for girls NYE ’10/’11? Well….. please don’t judge! Our top (not in order) 3 was:

2. Samantha Fox ‘Touch Me’

3. Sabrina ‘Boys’.

Double Trouble
