Road Trip Baby!

Ok kids, the road trip 2011 is on! My family flew in from Copenhagen and New Mexico to see me in LA. So cool! But eventually we left The West Coast to seek new adventures on the north bound I-15 (eventually ending up in Wyoming) where we are spending part of our vacation participating in a seminar called The Renaissance Weekend. I know; so nerdy! Who wants to spend their vacation getting up at 6:30 am hiking and having to to do presentations in front of approximately 300 people…? I

I’m stoked about having my family from New Mexico and Copenhagen in town! They arrived late on Wednesday night and I’m taking them around The City of Angels the coming week until we are Jackson Hole bound. Yes, that is Jackson Hole as in Wyoming. And yes, I have never set foot there yet. We are going for the famous Renaissance Weekend that my father is invited to and I’m super excited about it. Ok, back to my LA story; Yesterday I took my family to an event that represents

Almost Famous

Yesterday my friend, model and dancer Natasha Kassar and I did our take on ‘Penny Lane from the legendary movie ‘Almost Famous‘. Kate Hudson was nominated for best supporting actress by the Acadamy Award for her performance as Penny Lane. Very well deserved and perhaps she should have won since she was stellar and so fresh in that movie to say the least. Photographer Juan Monsalvez followed us around with his camera the whole afternoon and night as we were loving life in Hollywood with a true ‘Rock star’, groupie,

Make-Up

I have never been one to indulge in the glossy magazines’ pages called ‘styling tips 101’. Or the  ‘This is how you assemble your IKEA table’ vidoes, even though I just bought that exact IKEA table and have no bloody clue how to connect the dots.  I’m waaaay to impatient to read the manuals and I find it sooo uncool to have a tutor to tell moi how to go about my business. It’s my way or the highway. #Iwonderwhymyteachershatedmeinschool! But, I guess you can teach an old, stubborn dog

LA Woman

Today I had a truly long day of shooting. 10 hours in heels baby! Yes, it was long, but super enjoyable. Most of the day was spent Downtown LA on the most cool and urban rooftop I’ve been on in LA yet. Taking the view of the skyline into consideration it felt like I was in NYC again. Except this rooftop was as big as a football field and you do not come across that in The Big Apple. Later, starved, we went to the quaintest little place on 1850

Beauty Culture

If you enjoy photography, feel drawn to beauty and happen to be in Los Angeles I have the best tip for you! Go see the exhibit ‘Beauty Culture’ at the Annenberg Space for Photography in Century City. I went today and truly enjoyed the documentary about beauty, beauty culture across gender, age and nations, plastic surgery and the interviews with all the top photographers. Aside from amazing art and photography you can give yourself a ‘makeover’. Choose a brand new hairstyle, lips, eyes, face shape – you name it –

I’m ever so slowly beginning to tap into the LA lifestyle again. I always feel a tad alienated when I return from either NYC or Europe. The energy in LA is very different from all other cities I work in and visit. Mellow and glamorous on the outside and super busy and stressful on the inside…. Welcome to LA baby!!! 😉 These days the weather is so nice. I love this time of year. Warm, yet the air is still crisp and fresh plus the whole outdoor scene is exploding

The other day I was meeting my friend and designer Nina Morgan Jones. She is a gorgeous London born blonde, who is now LA based since years. I shot for her line Romp London back in December at the Avalon hotel and fell in love with most of the collection. She just moved into her new showroom smack in the middle of Beverly Hills. The most adorable and beautiful little space with dark wooden floors, exposed brick walls, old fashioned windows and fire escape stairs outside just like were er

What a day! Woke up with a slight hangover after yesterday’s dinner party in Beverly Hills. I’m developing a solid hate/love  relationship to Domaine Ott rosé and I think we are about to get serious… 😉 They say that the early bird catches the worm. And early I was headed down to The Raleigh’s Studios in Manhattan Beach for today’s last shots for the feature film about Bernie Madoff. The block next to us they are setting up for Avatar #2. I didn’t see Jim Cameron today, but maybe next

It happened again! I got so annoyed by my long, long locks that I decided to cut them myself. One morning I took the scissors from the kitchen drawer and carefully tried to copy what I have seen 100s of hair dressers and stylists do year after year. But for some reason the result just did not turn out exactly how I imagined. And seriously I really tried. But my hair was still stubbornly annoying to comb out the days after and I was also getting pretty fed up with
